Making it Easier for You to Share your Views

Some tips on how to share your comments and become part of the public record:

We are happy to receive and share your comments and opinions about an item that is before Committee or City Council. But before we share your comments, we need your permission. We have tried to make that process easier for you and for us.

Submit Comments button
When reviewing an item on http://www.toronto.ca/council you can now click on a button that appears at the top of the item. When clicked, it launches your email client and populates an email for you to send to us.

Here's what the button looks like:

Sending your comments this way makes sure that your comments get delivered to the appropriate staff contact, become part of the public record and get shared with Members of Council.

If you don't use the button, please make sure that in addition to sending your email to clerk@toronto.ca, you include the following information and direction so staff manage your comments the way you intended them to be:

1. The name and the item number. (e.g Item HL30.1, Public Forum on the Proposed Metrolinx Service Expansion)
2.That you are submitting comments for distribution to a Committe or to Council.
3. The name of the Committee and the date of the meeting.

Why include all this information? When we are unsure if the comments you sent to us were intended for distribution, we will always err on the side of caution and not submit them. If we have time we will try to follow-up with you to get your approval but this may cause delays in getting your comments to the decision makers.
