Motion by Councillor Wong-Tam on EX17.1

Councillor Kristyn Wong-Tam has made the following motion on the sale of TCHC houses.

Motion to Amend Item moved by Councillor Kristyn Wong-Tam (Final)


That:


1. City Council amend Executive Committee Recommendation 10.a. by adding the following words "or at values deemed to maximize the use of TCHC assets to meet Toronto's social and housing needs" so that the Recommendation now reads:


10. City Council request the Board of Directors of Toronto Community Housing Corporation to:


a. initiate a process to solicit interest for the purchase of the stand-alone properties listed in Appendix A of the report (January 10, 2012) from the City Manager and General Manager, Shelter, Support and Housing Administration, at market value or at values deemed to maximize the use of TCHC assets to meet Toronto's social and housing needs from social housing providers, charitable, non-profit and community agencies that deliver housing to low-income and vulnerable populations within Toronto;


2. City Council amend Executive Committee Recommendation 12.b. by adding the following new sections:


x. alternate tenure and management approaches for TCHC's stand-alone houses, drawing on practices in other jurisdictions.


xi. options for raising revenues or finding savings to bridge TCHC's annual capital shortfall.
